7:36 AM: Madison alder knocked off
Bridget Maniaci has knocked off Madison Ald. Brenda Konkel in their downtown district.
Maniaci won just more than 51 percent of the vote compared to 48 percent for Konkel, one of the state's more high-profile Greens to hold an elected office.
The race had been closely watched because Mayor Dave Cieslewicz has feuded with Konkel frequently and supported Maniaci, along with former Mayors Paul Soglin and Joe Sensenbrenner.
