10:59 AM: WISC-TV poll has slight edge for Obama, big lead for McCain

A new poll out today that was paid for by WISC-TV in Madison has Barack Obama with a slight lead over Hillary Clinton in the Dem primary, while John McCain leads big on the GOP side.

The survey found 47 percent of likely Dem primary voters backed Obama, compared to 42 percent for Clinton. The lead was within the margin of error.

McCain was backed by 48 percent of likely GOP primary voters. Mike Huckabee was backed by 32 percent, while 7 percent supported Ron Paul.

The WISC-TV Poll telephone poll of 600 randomly selected likely voters was conducted Feb. 13-14. The poll was conducted by Research 2000 and was paid for by WISC-TV.

There was an oversample conducted among Dem and GOP primary voters totaling 400 respondents each. That margin of error for those samples was plus or minute 5 percentage points.
