8:01 PM: Wasserman knocking on 10,000 door mark
State Rep. Sheldon Wasserman, D-Milwaukee, says he is closing in on visiting 10,000 doors in the 8th Senate District, where he is challenging incumbent Republican Alberta Darling of River Hills.
Wasserman said he knocked on 136 doors today, which brings his total to 9,223. He plans to hit 10,000 by mid-March.
The task hasn't been without its perils. Tonight, Wasserman showed a reporter from WisPolitics bites to both legs from a constituent's dog. Luckily, the dog's shots were up to date.
Wasserman said he's ready for debates. "Any time, anywhere, I'm ready to go," he said.
"People want change," he said. "You can feel it all the way down."
