1:41 PM: Poll: McCain holds substantial lead; Obama ahead of Clinton
A new Strategic Vision poll has Arizona Sen. John McCain favored among self-identified Republicans and Illinois Sen. Barack Obama the choice of Democrats for their parties' nominations.
The poll also found Obama with a slight edge over McCain in a head-to-head match up, while McCain led Hillary Clinton when the two were paired together.
The survey of 216 self-identified Republicans gave McCain a 45 percent to 27 percent lead over former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee. Ron Paul trailed with 7 percent.
Amongst 272 self-identified Democrats, Barack Obama holds a slight lead over Hillary Clinton of 45 percent to 41 percent.
The telephone poll of 800 likely voters was conducted Feb. 8-10 and had a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points. For the single-party questions, the margin of error is plus or minus 5.5 percent.
