3:28 PM: Obama picks up union endorsement

Operating Engineers Local 317 issued a statement announcing their endrosement of Illinois Sen. Barack Obama today, citing his "support for labor and working family issues."

"Senator Obama's message of change and hope make him an attractive candidate" said Mark Maierle, the union's business manager. "As President, we believe Obama will achieve critically needed changes that benefit working families."

Local 317 represents building and power plant maintenance workers, most notably for We Energies.
