11:24 AM: New poll: Obama, McCain ahead in Wisconsin
A poll released today by North Carolina-based Public Policy Polling shows Barack Obama with a 50-39 advantage over Hillary Clinton among 642 likely Democratic primary voters.
Obama has a slight 46-44 lead among registered Dems, but leads 63-25 among independent likely Dem voters, who are eligible to participate in the state's open primary. The Democratic results are weighted to reflect an anticipated record turnout by young and African-American voters.
In a survey of 700 likely GOP primary voters, John McCain holds a 53-32 lead over Mike Huckabee, with Ron Paul trailing at 7 percent.
The poll, taken February 11, has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.9 percent for the Democratic results, and plus or minus 3.7 percent for the Republican results. Public Policy Polling used automated telephone calls to randomly selected voters from the last two primaries.
