8:02 PM: Feingold knocks conservatives for bashing CFR
U.S. Sen. Russ Feingold bashed conservatives for criticizing the McCain-Feingold campaign finance reform bill, asking "since when is it a conservative principle to allow mass corruption in the election process."
Feingold said that if the number one criticism by Republicans of McCain is that he co-sponsored the campaign finance reform bill, it shows "that's a political party that admires fat cat fundraising and whose personal account reads moral bankruptcy."
Feingold knocked Huckabee, saying "he knows as much about campaign finance reform as he knows about Pakistan, which apparently isn't a whole lot."
He criticized Huckabee for saying he finds it hard to raise funds under the bill, pointing to Obama and Clinton's fundraising prowess.
Feingold praised Obama and Clinton for supporting healthcare reform, and for voting for a deadline for withdrawal from Iraq.
"I want to thank these two senators for the unbelievable hard work they have done on this campaign," Feingold said. "They have both been tough as nails."
