Pocan: Changes coming to prevailing wage proposal
Rep. Mark Pocan, the JFC co-chair, said this afternoon that there will be modifications to the prevailing wage proposal put out by Gov. Doyle, and that the version the JFC will consider tomorrow should garner stronger support.
"We definitely have listened to the concerns on prevailing wage," Pocan said.
The Madison Dem declined to give details on the compromise because he said the final details have not yet been worked out.
The committee will be back tomorrow at 10 a.m. Pocan also said that meetings are planned for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. He said Tuesday's meeting could start later than usual because Assembly Dems will caucus Tuesday morning.
Pocan said he doesn't expect a breakdown until next Tuesday or Wednesday from LFB on the fiscal impact of 2.5 percent cuts on school aids and shared revenue, or on the 5 percent cuts to state agencies. But he said some agencies, like the UW System and technical schools and the Department of Revenue, will be exempt from the cuts.
