There is no elk hunt yet in Wisconsin, but the fee has been increased just in case.

The JFC adopted Gov. Doyle's recommendation to raise the application processing fee from $3 to $10. (budget paper 565) The committee did pass a separate motion to require that the additional $7 be deposited in the elk management appropriation of the fish and wildlife account.

The elk herd is currently estimated at 145. A hunt will not be considered until the total elk population exceeds 200.
