Kapanke mulls House run

Sen. Dan Kapanke says he is considering running against U.S. Rep. Ron Kind, D-La Crosse, in 2010.

Kapanke said he has been approached about the possibility. Kapanke's state Senate seat is not up for re-election until 2012, which means he would not need to give up his statehouse seat to run.

Kapanke says he'd like to make a final decision in the next couple of months.

"I just want to make sure it's the right thing to do for the 3rd (Congressional) District, the state, and my family," said Kapanke.

Juneau County DA Scott Southworth told WisPolitics last month that he is also considering a run at the 3rd Congressional seat.
