Doyle Delivers Budget Guidelines

Budget instructions delivered to department heads today by Gov. Jim Doyle call for most agencies to hold their GPR budgets over the next two years at current levels.

SEG-funded administrative operations of the Departments of Transportation and Natural Resources, and the lottery will also remain at 2006-07 levels, Doyle said. "These targets are necessary to ensure state government lives with its means," writes Doyle.

"In addition, most agencies will be required to submit plans to reduce all nonfederally-funded state administrative operations appropriations by ten percent," continues Doyle. T"These plans should look to retool and reorganize programs to increase both efficiency and service."

Agency budget requests are due Sept. 15.
