Fitzgerald Questions Burmaster on DPI Budget
"So you want the Legislature and governor to make education a priority in their budgets when you didn't in your budget?" JFC Co-chair Sen. Scott Fitgerald said to Supt. Libby Burmaster, referring to her description of the DPI budget as "bare bones." Fitzgerald was curious about the governor's education funding levels exceeding the Burmaster's.
"How could I not have made education a priority in my budget?" Burmaster replied. She said she is advocating for as much in categorical aids as can be afforded while offering property tax relief, she said.
